Artist's Comments

One of the intrinsic features of wax-cylinder graphophones was the ability to both play and record. Connecting two machines with a rubber hose and dubbing cylinders was common practice.

I drew the illustration based on a public-domain image of a woman listening to a graphophone with tube earphones.

Thanks. I was talking to a friend about how the introduction of difficult-to-copy gramophone records (i.e. 78's) basically created the recording industry and this idea jumped at me.
